Unsettling Teaser Trailer for THE REMEDY Unleashes a Flesh-Eating Nightmare
Horror fans looking for something unsettling to keep an eye on might want to check out The Remedy, an indie horror project that just dropped a short but seriously creepy teaser.
The film comes from filmmaker Alex Kahuam, and while the footage is brief, it sets up a disturbing story packed with psychological dread and something far more sinister lurking beneath the surface.
Film Seekers revealed the teaser ahead of the film’s premiere at the SXSW London Film Festival this June, where it’ll make its debut while still hunting for distribution.
Kahuam shared his excitement, saying, "I'm beyond excited to give horror fans a first look at the teaser for The Remedy, a genre film that blends psychological tension and supernatural eeriness.”
The story centers on Jason, played by Timothy Granaderos, a worn-down young man trying to hold his family together. He’s caring for his terminally ill mother while also dealing with his sister’s fragile mental state.
The pressure starts to crack him, and things spiral when he begins experiencing intense nightmares of a grotesque entity consuming his mother. Those visions don’t stay confined to sleep for long.
As Jason’s reality starts slipping, his estranged sister Rachel returns after being released from psychiatric care, convinced something dark has taken hold inside their home.
She turns to spiritual practices to protect them, while Jason brushes it off as another episode. That skepticism doesn’t last long once he makes a desperate move of his own.
In an attempt to save his mother, Jason turns to an obscure ancient remedy. At first, it seems to work. Her condition improves, offering a glimpse of hope. But that hope quickly curdles as strange and terrifying events begin to escalate. It becomes clear that whatever he brought into their lives isn’t healing anything. It’s feeding.
The cast also includes London Thor, Chris Mulkey, Jenny O’Hara, Dana Sparks, and the always captivating Doug Jones, whose presence hints that whatever creature shows up is going to leave an impression.
The teaser gives just enough to suggest something truly disturbing, especially once the entity briefly appears. There’s a raw, eerie energy to it that leans into both psychological horror and supernatural terror. It definitely makes you question whether digging into ancient remedies is ever a good idea.
The Remedy is directed by Kahuam, who previously helmed Forgiveness and Failure!, with a script by Daniel Kuhlman.
If this teaser is any indication, this is one horror film that could hit hard once it finds its way to a wider audience.
