Unsettling Trailer For Amazon's THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE

What would the world be like if the Germans and the Japanese won World War II? That's the question posed in author Philip K. Dick's novel The Man in the High Castle, and subsequently in Amazon's new streaming series based on the book.

Based on Philip K. Dick's award-winning novel, and executive produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), The Man in the High Castle explores what it would be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States. Starring Rufus Sewell (John Adams), Luke Kleintank (Pretty Little Liars) and Alexa Davalos (Mob City).

There's a ton of fascinating imagery here, including a perverse version of the American flag with Nazi swastika on it and Nazi symbols dominating New York City's Times Square. This whole thing reminds me of the sequence in The Rocketeer in which the Nazis' plan to rule the world with jetpacks is revealed in an animated video in which the American flag falls and a Nazi flag replaces it. We've seen films and TV shows that explore the concept of alternate histories before, but this trailer looks particularly effective; it gave me a visceral reaction when I watched it. Looks like this could be a great series, and Amazon Prime members should definitely keep an eye out for this one when it debuts this fall.
