Unsettling Trailer For Gothic Post-WWI Danish Thriller THE GIRL WITH THE NEEDLE
Mubi has released the trailer for an unsettling film titled The Girl with the Needle, a Danish gothic thriller that is set in the depths of Copenhagen in 1919, post-World War I.
The Girl with the Needle follows Karoline (Vic Carmen Sonne), “a young factory worker, struggling to survive in post WWI in Copenhagen. When she finds herself unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman running an underground adoption agency, helping mothers to find foster homes for their unwanted children.
“With nowhere else to turn, Karoline takes on the role of a wet-nurse. A strong connection is formed between the two women, but Karoline’s world shatters when she stumbles upon the shocking truth behind her work.”
The movie is inspired by a true story, which makes this whole thing so much more disturbing.
The Girl with the Needle is directed by Magnus von Horn, and it also stars Trine Dyrholm, with Besir Zeciri, Ava Knox Martin, and Joachim Fjelstrup.
I’ve heard this is a great film and it will be released in select US theaters on December 6th, 2024.
