Upcoming George Washington Film is Described as LAST OF THE MOHICANS Meets THERE WILL BE BLOOD

There's an epic sounding new film going back into development called The Virginian, which is a story that will tell the origin of George Washington. I know you all know who George Washington is and his place in history and this film will tell the story of the early life that led him to become the great man that he became.

The movie will now be written and directed by Jason Hall. Hall wrote the script for Clint Eastwood's American Sniper and he made his directorial debut with the film Thank You For Your Service, the trailer for which you can watch here.

According to Deadline, the ambition is "to tell a story that is Last of the Mohicans meets There Will Be Blood. Here, Washington is a rough man driven by extreme ambition in a violent frontier, and the film will show how one man’s battle to conquer himself enabled him to liberate a nation."

When the project was first announced a couple years ago, the film was said to follow a "down-and-out, young George Washington — desperate to join the British Army — accepts a dangerous mission to conquer a French fort and save the American colonies."

This sounds like it will be a seriously awesome movie! I don't really know much about the early life of Washington prior to his involvement in the Revolutionary War. I'm intrigued now, and I think I'll be doing some research.

I'm sure the film will be inspired by certain aspects of Washington's life, but you know how Hollywood likes to embellish the truth and add certain things to make the story more interesting for audiences. I'm just looking forward to seeing how this turns out!
