THE WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND Spinoff Gets a Premiere Date and It Will Only Last Two Seasons
We now have a date for the third series in the Walking Dead universe, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The show will premiere on Sunday, April 12th, following the Season 10 season finale of the flagship series, The Walking Dead. Along with this news, AMC released a statement saying that this new series will only run for two seasons! This is a new format the creators are using to tell some stories moving forward.
Because the trailer shows that the series will delve deeper into the CRM group that is responsible for taking Rick Grimes away by helicopter, and we know his first spin-off movie is approaching, it makes sense that this will be a limited series that could lead into the film. I think this is an interesting and exciting development, and I can’t wait to see what happens.
Here’s the synopsis for the series via Deadline:
The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek.
I’ll add in the trailer below in case you’d like to check it out again. Let us know what you think of the new format, and if you’re excited to start watching The Walking Dead: World Beyond on April 12.
