Update on Ben Affleck’s THE BATMAN Solo Film

Last year a report hit the internet that Ben Affleck would direct and star in a Batman solo film project for Warner Bros. called The Batman. In a recent report from Latino-Review, we’ve learned that this project is still moving forward, and that it’s aiming for a 2018 release date. They’re also reporting that screenwriter Chris Terrio, who wrote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and is writing the two Justice League films, will also come back to write The Batman.

When Batman v Superman comes out, we’ll know for sure whether or not Terrio is the right screenwriter for this franchise, and if he’s going to be the one to bring the magic to the DC cinematic universe. He wrote Argo for Affleck, which was great, so hopefully he can bring that greatness to these upcoming DC superhero films.

As far as Affleck directing The Batman goes, I think it’s fantastic. The guy has proved that he’s a talented director, and I’m more excited about him directing a solo Batman movie than I would be about Zack Snyder directing one. Affleck has been choosing his film projects very carefully in recent years, and he’s not making crappy movies anymore.

It’ll be cool to see what he ends up doing with this new Batman movie. I hope he pulls off something amazing and gives fans a film they are going to love.
