Update on Netflix's ARCANE Season 2 Explains Why We Have to Wait So Long Before It's Released
The first season of Netflix’s League of Legends animated series, Arcane, was so freakin’ awesome and it was such a big hit that it got a Season 2 renewal. That was over a year ago, and while fans like myself have been hoping that the second season would be coming this year, we’re going to have to wait a little longer.
Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent recently offered an update in a recent interview, saying that we’re going to have to wait until 2024 for the next season to drop. Laurent went on to explain why it’s going to take longer to release:
"It is not ready yet and there [are] two reasons for that. One, you want the quality. We just don't want to rush and so that takes time. So that's the good reason. The bad reason is, honestly, we didn't know if Season 1 was going to be a success so we didn't start Season 2 until [later]. If I had known, we could have started Season 2 way earlier. But we didn't know so we waited a bit and now we're paying the price. So, unfortunately, it's not going to be this year."
You know what? I’m fine with waiting as long as it means were are going to get another high-quality Season 2! The first season told such a strong story and the art and animation style were incredible! I just want the creative team to do whatever they’ve got to do to deliver another amazing season of the story!
The series is set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun, and the story follows the “origins of two iconic League champions-and the power that will tear them apart.” Those two characters are Vi and Jinx, sisters who find themselves at odds after a series of tragic and unfortunate events.
The series features Hailee Steinfeld as Vi, Katie Leung as Caitlyn, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Jason Spisak as Silco, Ella Purnell as Jinx, Toks Olagundoye as Mel, JB Blanc as Vander, and Harry Lloyd as Viktor.
