Usagi Yojimbo Is Getting His Own Animated Series at Netflix Titled SAMURAI RABBIT: THE USAGI CHRONICLES

Netflix has picked up an animated series based on the classic Samurai rabbit character Usagi Yojimbo. The series is titled Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, and it is based on the comic book series created by Stan Sakai that launched back in 1984.

James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquaman) is an executive producer on the series, and it’s set in a world that mixes modern high-tech images with classic Japanese references.

The series will be CGI animated, and the story follows the teenage Rabbit Samurai Yuichi, “descendent of the great warrior Miyamoto Usagi, on his epic quest to become a true samurai. But he isn’t alone. He leads a ragtag team of misfit heroes – including a roguish bounty hunter, a cunning ninja, an acrobatic pickpocket and a faithful pet lizard – as he battles depth-charging moles, metal-tipped winged bats and monsters from another dimension, all in the pursuit to become the best samurai Usagi.”

Sakai is an executive producer on the series along with Gaumont, Dark Horse Entertainment, and Atomic Monster.

Usagi Yojimbo is a badass character, and I’ve been a huge fan ever since I was a kid! It’s crazy to me that it took so long to see the character get his own series adaptation. I was first introduced to the character when he appeared in the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. After that, I found out he had his own comic book series!

Anyway, I’m super excited about this show, and I can’t wait to watch it!
