V FOR VENDETTA Returns to Theaters for Its 20th Anniversary Celebration
V for Vendetta will return to theaters nationwide on November 1 and 5, 2025, for a special 20th anniversary re-release. Fathom Entertainment, Saga Arts, and Warner Bros. Pictures dropped a teaser trailer announcing the event with an eerie and nostalgic invitation for fans to “Join V One Year from Tonight,” echoing the movie’s iconic line.
Released in 2006, V for Vendetta is a political action thriller that became an enduring symbol of rebellion and freedom. Directed by James McTeigue and produced by The Wachowskis, the film is based on the groundbreaking graphic novel by Alan Moore (Watchmen) and David Lloyd, published by Vertigo/DC Comics.
Set in a dystopian Britain ruled by a totalitarian government, the story follows Evey Hammond, played by Natalie Portman, a young woman saved from the secret police by a masked vigilante known only as V, portrayed by Hugo Weaving.
V’s campaign to take down the oppressive regime through powerful acts of defiance and destruction struck a cultural nerve when the film was first released.
Alongside Portman and Weaving, the cast includes Stephen Rea, John Hurt, Stephen Fry, Tim Pigott-Smith, Rupert Graves, Roger Allam, Ben Miles, and Sinéad Cusack.
The film went on to earn over $70 million domestically and more than $132 million worldwide, solidifying its place as one of the most memorable comic book adaptations of its time. I love this movie and it will be great to watch it on the big screen again!
The film was produced by Joel Silver, Grant Hill, and the Wachowskis from their own screenplay, with Benjamin Waisbren serving as executive producer.
“From its early days as a graphic novel and then a feature film, few properties have struck a chord with fans and been more thought-provoking societally than V for Vendetta,” said Fathom’s VP Studio Relations Tom Lucas.
“Twenty years later, the movie still resonates, and Fathom is so pleased to bring it back to theatres next November with our partners at Warner Bros. and Saga Arts.”
Two decades later, the Guy Fawkes mask still stands as a global symbol of protest and resistance, and this anniversary screening is set to remind audiences why V for Vendetta remains as powerful and relevant as ever.
Remember, remember… November 2025.
