Valve to Give Away a Steam Deck Every Minute During the Game Awards

The Game Awards are set to take place in roughly one week as of this writing. This is a time for gamers and the gaming industry to celebrate the previous year in gaming. Fans can vote for their favorite games, eSports teams, content creators and more and studios show off new trailers and make announcements.

It’s a win-win for pretty much everyone. Well, Valve wants to make the event potentially even better for you. Every minute of the live broadcast of The Game Awards will feature Valve giving a lucky viewer a Steam Deck! The Game Awards is not a short show. Last year, the event was roughly 3 hours! That means that Valve can expect to give away approximately 180 Steam Decks! And it’s the 512GB version which is the highest end model!

How will this giveaway work? You can read the official rules, but I’ll try to break it down. First, there are two ways to enter. The first is by going to Steam and registering for the giveaway. Then, you have to watch The Game Awards live on December 8 through Steam (at steam.tv). Every minute, one name from the pool of registrants will be put into the chat and that will be the winner. One caveat to all of this is that you must live in Canada, the EU, the UK, or the US. Another caveat is that you must have made a purchase on Steam between November 14, 2021 and November 14, 2022. Other rules are that you must be in good standing and not have a limited account.

The other way to enter is to mail a self-addressed 4”x6” note card with your name, address, city, state, country, postal code, email address, Steam account name (this account can be limited or unlimited), telephone number, and the name and date of the Giveaway (The Game Awards 2022 Giveaway) to Valve. They must be postmarked before or on December 8 and received by Valve before December 19.

The chances of winning will be the same regardless of which method you use. This is big enough where I’ll probably be watching The Game Awards via Steam in the hope of winning one of these bad boys. In case you need a refresher, the Steam Deck is essentially a handheld PC with everything you need to play your favorite games on the go. I’ve heard really good things about the Steam Deck and hopefully one day I’ll be able to give it a try. Will you be trying to win one of these bad boys?

The Game Awards will take place on December 8 starting with a preshow at 4:30 PM PT and the main show beginning at 5 PM PT.
