Vanessa Hudgens and Alexandra Shipp Sign On for Lin-Manuel Miranda in TICK, TICK... BOOM!
Vanessa Hudgens (Powerless, Rent: Live) has been hired on alongside Alexandra Shipp (Love, Simon) and Robin de Jesus to star in the Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton)-directed adaptation of Tick, Tick… Boom!. The original Broadway play was written by Rent writer Jonathan Larson and is being adapted for the screen by Steven Levenson, who co-created Fosse/Verdon and is writing the upcoming stage to film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen.
These stars join Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, The Amazing Spider-Man), who was previously cast. Here’s the synopsis:
The movie will be based on the autobiographical musical by playwright Jonathan Larson. It’s the story of an aspiring composer in New York City who is worried he made the wrong career choice.
Hudgens did well in the live Rent performance on TV, so I think she is a good addition to the cast. Larson was a talented playwright, so I’m looking forward to this one. Are you?
