VENOM Producer Matt Tolmach Developing a Murder Mystery Series Called RED STICK for NBC

A new crime drama is on its way from author Patricia Cornwell, producer Matt Tolmach (Venom), and Sony Pictures TV. The show will be called Red Stick, and NBC has “given a script commitment plus penalty” to the new show. The idea for the show comes from Cornwell, but the show is written by Samantha Humphrey.

[Red Stick] follows Dr. Annie Dodge who is summoned from New York to her hometown of Baton Rouge, LA, after the sudden death of her father, the city’s beloved coroner. Now, as she’s mourning the loss of her childhood hero, Annie finds herself reluctantly stepping into her father’s role to solve an ongoing murder while navigating the complicated waters of Bayou politics, Southern hospitality and a simmering past romance.

Cornwell, Humphrey, and Tolmach will be executive producers along with David Manpearl. Fans of Cornwell’s work may notice some similarities between Annie Dodge and Kay Scarpetta from the Scarpetta novel series. Are you excited for this new show? Who should star?
