VERONICA MARS Movie Has a Release Date!

Movie Veronica Mars by Joey Paur

Writer and director Rob Thomas has announced that the Veronica Mars movie will be released on March 14th, 2014!

The original plan was to give the movie a limited theatrical engagement in just a few cities before going wide. It would also be available on video on demand and other digital platforms. Thomas now says that Warner Bros. will start out with a wider, nationwide release, and then let the marketplace decide how long it will stay in theaters.

“We’re not going to dribble it out there. There are smart ways to do a movie of this size — and we chose none of them. We are a low budget movie with big set pieces and 60 speaking roles. A murder mystery in a house would have been more cost effective. But I think we have managed to pull it off.”

Thomas shot the movie in 23 days this past summer, and is currently putting on the finishing touches in post-production. Thomas already did a test screening for the film, and it was apparently well received.

In the movie, Veronica returns to her hometown of Neptune, California, after 10 years away to help her former friend Logan (Jason Dohring), who has been accused of killing his pop star girlfriend.

The original cast is back, including Enrico Colantoni as Veronica’s father and Tina Majorino as Mac, Percy Daggs III as Wallace, as well as several other familiar faces. As a fan of the series, I'm very excited to see how this movie turned out!

Head on over to EW to watch a clip from the movie.
