Vesemir Faces His Demons in Exhilarating New Trailer For Netflix's THE WITCHER: NIGHTMARE OF THE WOLF
Netflix has released another trailer for its upcoming animated fantasy anime film Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. This film is an origin story for Vesemir (Theo James), who is the mentor of Geralt (Henry Cavill). The story is set “long before” the events of the first season of Netflix’s live-action The Witcher series and this new trailer offers up some pretty cool and exciting new footage!
The brief synopsis reads, “Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.”
In the new trailer, Vesemir is sent on a mission to destroy a deadly force that is killing people in the woods outside Ard Carraigh. He is joined on this journey by Tetra (Lara Pulver), a sorceress who works to keep peace on the Continent by ensuring that magic is not abused. As you’ll see in the trailer, they find themselves on an intense adventure!
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is written and produced by Beau DeMayo and co-produced by The Witcher Showrunner and Executive Producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Studio Mir’s Kwang Il Han who is also directing. DeMayo previously talked about the series, saying:
“There are things that you can animate in an animated form that will look so amazing, so badass, that if you did it in action, in live-action, it's just going to look goofy or it's just going to register as a little false to the human eye. Something with magic and monsters and adventure and romance that you couldn't necessarily use a live-action medium to tell, and I think when people see the anime and when it releases, there are very particular choices we made. And the script itself, there are certain things it takes advantage of in terms of animation that only animation can do. I think that's what's the most exciting thing that I'm waiting for fans to see. Is that, when you see the anime, it's not just the events, it's what Studio Mir has been capable of pulling off. It's what our partners in the anime division at Netflix have been able to pull off. It is something... it is a story we could not have told in live-action in any way, shape or form. At least not with an incredible burden on production, I will say that.
The voice cast for the series includes Theo James as Vesemir, Lara Pulver as Tetra, Graham McTavish as Deglan, and Mary McDonnell as Lady Zerbst.
