Here’s a great video essay for you to watch that offers an interesting breakdown of the of how the VFX in the Marvel films progressively got worse and how the CGI effects in the films started to be overused.

As good as the stories for the Marvel films have been, the weak VFX work seems to stick out like a sore thumb. A lot of fans have been noticing this. It seems like Marvel has been rushing the special effects and I wonder if they have been doing that to meet the deadline for the film’s release date.

The video comes from Browntable and there are a lot of great points that are made in it that are hard to argue with. Especially when it comes to how Marvel replaces the beautiful real practical suits that are made for some of the characters and then they are just replaced with CGI. Spider-Man and Black Panther were the prime examples of this.
