Video Essay: How Disney Uses Language in Animated Films

YouTuber Sideways has published a fascinating video essay that explores how the people at Walt Disney Animation use language in their movies — specifically, in the music for their movies. Sure, I noticed and appreciated the Polynesian and South Pacific-inspired music in Moana, but this guy heard that and was moved to track the way the studio has employed different types of cultural music in its movies over the years. I learned a lot watching this, and maybe you will, too:

I probably looked way to hard into this, but I was really excited when I first saw "We Know The Way" in the movie theater. And I have to say, I'm genuinely excited to see what Disney has in store for their next showstopper.
