Video Games To Look Out For In August
This August doesn’t bring any huge triple-A games, but it does have a bunch of indie and slightly smaller titles that all look like they’ll keep any gamer busy. Check out our list of most anticipated games as we give a quick rundown of why we’re excited to play them and then our list of trailers of other games that we are looking forward to trying out this month too.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout - August 4th
PC, PlayStation 4
To start out August, we have a wonderfully fun game, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. This game had no real release date until recently. It was announced that it would be released on the 4th and be a free game for Playstation Plus users (this month only, so grab it while you can!). This game takes the popular battle royal model and turns it into a chaotic race through various “Wipe Out” style obstacles until there is one left or another objective is complete.
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition - August 7th
PC, PlayStation 4
After its impressive entrance on the PS4 a few years ago and a fine DLC, it is now coming to Steam. It doesn’t promise much better graphics or anything, but PC users will probably enjoy slightly better load times and the wonderful experience that PS4 players had. All of this is great hype for the upcoming sequel coming on the PS5.
Fast and Furious Crossroads - August 7th
PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
I won’t lie, I am not expecting this game to be great, but I could be proven wrong. The racing and actual action look pretty good, but games made from movies don’t have that great of a track record. However, as the movies have gotten more crazy and ridiculous with the huge vehicles, crazy weapons and insane stunts, the franchise is more like a video game than ever. With all that considered, maybe the move to video games might be the next best thing for the Fast and Furious franchise.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time - August 21
Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, Xbox One
Our beloved animated samurai is back. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time takes a lot of the style from the show and integrates it well in jack move sets and fighting style. The game looks like a fun and well-made action game that will hopefully honor the name and show of Samurai Jack.
Nexomon: Extinction - August 28th
Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
There are a few more big games coming out this month, but I wanted to point out Nexomon: Extinction. It looks like a fantastic Pokémon-classic clone but with more JRPG elements. Side quests, deeper story, and more wild characters all look like interesting additions to make this more than just a Pokémon rip off.
