Ralph Macchio Talks COBRA KAI Season 3 and What Returning to Okinawa Means For Daniel
We’ve got a fun video for you to check out from a recent episode of Conan on TBS, where Conan O’Brien talks to Cobra Kai star Ralph Macchio about the upcoming third season of the hit series. The show aired its first two seasons on YouTube and recently made the move to Netflix, where it will air its upcoming season(s).
The show follows Macchio’s character Daniel LaRusso from the Karate Kid films, who is an adult now and finds himself back in the karate business, facing off against his old nemesis, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who has brought the Cobra Kai dojo back to the Valley. The show is so smart and funny, and has a great cast to accompany the men on their journey, making the series relevant for fans of all ages.
In the interview, Macchio talks a bit about the third season, saying:
"I have been to Okinawa for some shooting of Cobra Kai season three, which I cannot talk too much about. But I can say it dives into the origin of Miyagi Do Karate. We learn a little bit, some secrets of past history that is new to the audience, and to LaRusso, my character, and we actually went to Okinawa to shoot."
We have known since interviewing the cast and writers last year at Comic-Con that the story would lead back to Okinawa, but it’s cool to hear that it will be to dive into the origin of Miyagi Do karate. The most recent teaser for the show alluded to the fact that there were things that Daniel did not know about Mr. Miyagi, so it’s awesome to hear that we will be digging into these mysteries.
I cannot wait for the third season of Cobra Kai! So I will just binge the first two seasons one more time while we wait. Check out the whole interview below with Conan and Ralph; it’s pretty funny. And watch Seasons 1 and 2 of Cobra Kai on Netflix. Season 3 is headed our way in 2021.
