Video Reminds Us That It Was Once Super Popular To Photograph Your Loved Ones After They Died
In the 1850s, photography finally became affordable and the general public was able to commission a photographer to capture any moment they wanted. Weirdly enough, it was super popular at the time to call in someone to take a photograph of someone not long after they died!
The whole process had to be completed within 24 hours or else the body would start to decompose. Once the photo was taken, the photographer would occasionally add pupils to the deceased eyes in the photo so it could look as though they were still alive.
I don't care what era you're in, that's all kinds of messed up. I can't imagine living in a house with pictures of dead bodies, and I'll be damned if I ever do! Check out more on this trend below, which is actually quite interesting despite how bizarre it is today by modern standards.
