Video: The SCRUBS Cast Celebrates the Show's Reboot Kickoff and Share Why Fans Will Enjoy the New Episodes
Scrubs is officially back in production with the upcoming reboot, which will pick up in the tenth season of the show, over 16 years after the finale of the original run.
The series is welcoming back creator Bill Lawrence, as well as its stars, Zach Braff (J.D.), Donald Faison (Turk), and Sarah Chalke (Elliot), with Judy Reyes (Carla), and John C. McGinley, who played Dr. Perry Cox. More of the original stars are expected as well.
The reboot “follows JD Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison), who scrub in together for the first time in a long time — medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”
Braff and Faison, who became fast friends at the show’s start, are featured in the Sexiest Man Alive issue of People Magazine, and they were asked how they thought a new generation would respond to Scrubs. Braff responded, saying:
“There's a very young writers staff along with some of the brilliant original writers on Scrubs, and I think this young, very diverse group of writers will help us crack that case.”
Faison added, “I think a lot of the story still holds up too. You're still following your favorite doctors, your heroes to some people. Regardless of what's happened from season one through nine, the core story is still there and people really want to see that.”
I think old and new fans will be glad to see a show that will make you laugh and hit you in the feels. As long as the writing is as good as it was in the original run, I am excited to watch.
Scrubs is set to return to ABC and Hulu this February. Check out the cast’s production kickoff video below:
