Video: Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx Rehearse For COLLATERAL, Michael Mann's L.A. Masterpiece
I know director Michael Mann is famous for Miami Vice and the crime movie Heat, but I think the 2004 thriller Collateral is his true masterpiece. Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx give stellar performances (seriously, it's some of the best work of Cruise's career), and it's one of the best movies to ever capture the unique look of Los Angeles at night. If you haven't seen it, it's an absolute must-watch, and even if you have, I'd highly recommend revisiting it. I'm convinced it's a modern classic.
It's very rare that we see rehearsal footage of A-list actors working their lines and blocking early in the process of a movie, but that's exactly what The Film Stage has pointed out today with this video from Eyes on Cinema. The quality isn't brilliant, but it's an uncommon look into the behind-the-scenes process of these guys as they were prepping for filming:
