Video: What Wes Anderson Gets Right About Childhood

Writer/director Wes Anderson's movies often include child characters that are wise beyond their years. While this particular trope can be annoying in the hands of other filmmakers, he often imbues these characters with emotional truth that makes them feel like actual characters beyond the occasional sassy quip or pearl of wisdom. This video essay from Fandor dives into Anderson's exploration of childhood in his movies, and while the creators of this video clearly appreciate everything the director does, I put the most value on the way his movies treat child characters as real people who are capable of understanding situations around them.

Or, how to be young and old at the same time. Video by Philip Brubaker. More at fandor.com
