VIKINGS Star Katheryn Winnick Joins Cast of THE DARK TOWER
The cast of the long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower has grown by one. Variety reports that Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has come on board the project, though they don't have any details about which character she'll be playing.
Winnick's hiring comes hot on the heels of the addition of Fran Kranz last week, and the two of them will join Idris Elba as gunslinger Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey as the evil Man in Black, Tom Taylor as the young Jake Chambers, Jackie Earle Haley as Richard Sayre, and Abbey Lee as Tirana. I've only read the first novel in King's multi-book series, and to me Winnick doesn't seem like an instant ringer for the (extremely few) female characters that pop up in that book, so I'm guessing she'll be playing a character that shows up later in the series. Fans of the books can feel free to speculate away in the comments section.
Production is underway, and BMD just pointed out the fact that a few photos from the set have hit Instagram recently. Visit their site for more, but I'll include a couple of them below, including one that has our first look at a version of the movie's logo:
