VILLAINOUS BIGGER AND BADDER Is A Fun Expansion For Seasoned Players

The latest expansion for the game Villainous, Bigger and Badder, is a fun new expansion that lets players be Syndrome, Madam Mim, and Lotso. Ravensburger sent me a copy to review and I had a lot of fun with it.

As always there are difficulty levels to the characters. Madam Mim seemed to be the easiest while Syndrome was the most complex. The first time playing I played with someone who had never played Villainous before and unfortunately they picked Syndrome to play as. I would not recommend this as it led to a lot of questions throughout the game. Although he was a little confusing, they did have fun and would be interested in playing the game again as someone else, so it’s not so difficult as to not be fun. The more I looked over each character though, the more I think that this is a better expansion for those who are already familiar with Villainous. Each character had a pretty different gameplay than other characters. Syndrome was the only one that had a normal vanquish action for getting rid of heroes. Lotso is trying to reduce the strength of all the heroes and then send them to the Caterpillar room on his board and Madam Mim has to use a specific animal transformation to defeat specific Merlin animal transformations. Each one is fun, I just think having some familiarity with the base game would be helpful before jumping into this expansion.

Overall, I liked the variety between each of these characters. Villainous has done a really good job with keeping each expansion pretty varied with its gameplay and this one I felt was especially true to the villain characters. I would give this expansion an 8/10.
