Vin Diesel Explains Why He Thinks FURIOUS 7 Has The Best Ending in Cinematic History
When I think of the best movie endings in cinematic history, Furious 7 isn’t a film that comes to my mind. There are so many incredible movie endings, but Vin Deisel believes that the end of Furious 7 is the best in cinematic history.
Now, I know many of you won’t agree with him. Hell, I don’t! But, in a recent interview with NME, he offers an explanation of why he wholeheartedly believes this. As you might suspect, it has to do with how Paul Walker’s character, Brian, was handled after he tragically was killed in a car accident.
Naturally, Diesel and the creative team felt a strong need to send Walker’s character off in an uplifting way, and they went with an ending that they believed paid proper tribute to the actor without exploiting his death as a plot point.
“It was a very tough moment. But there was some solace in the fact that we were able to protect from the natural whim of a producer or anyone to say, ‘Well now you’re going to go avenge the character,’ and use it as a plot and we were able to do something so beautiful and so classy. Might be the best moment in cinematic history. Not just in my career but in cinematic history. Men around the world, everyone was able to cry, but men around the planet for the first time in history were able to cry together.”
I know a lot of people thought that the ending was a bit corny, but I did think it was a fitting way to close out Walker’s story and I appreciated it. But the best ending in cinematic history? To each their own.
