Remember that feud between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel that started during the production of the Fast and Furious sequels? Well, Diesel is looking to start that fire back up again, because now he’s taking credit for Dwayne Johnson’s acting in the movie. You see, Diesel is saying that his poor behavior on the set and all of that shit-talking was just a manipulation tactic in order to get the performance from Johnson in the films that he wanted.

Diesel explained in an interview with Men’s Health saying, “It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character. My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. As a producer to say, kkay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know—Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks. That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”

If this is true, that’s a dangerous game he’s playing because that feud escalated to other members of the cast! Hell, Tyrese Gibson threatened to quit the franchise over this shit! I don’t know, maybe Deisel is trying to spin the story of the feud in another direction? Regardless, his words are kind of insulting, and I’m curious to see how or if Johnson will respond. I mean, Diesel is taking credit for Johnson’s acting in the franchise, and he’s proud of what he managed to get out of Johnson.

I just don’t get what Diesel is trying to do by saying this. I don’t think Johnson really needed any help from Diesel playing Hobbs, he is the one that brought the character to life the way he did. The fans love him because it’s The Rock, and now Diesel is trying to say it’s because of him purposely being unprofessional on the set of the films? Did he do the same thing with John Cena in the upcoming film to they the performance he needed from him? I don’t buy it. What do you think?
