Vince Gilligan Says Walter White Will Appear in BETTER CALL SAUL
For those of you who were hoping to see Bryan Cranston reprise his role as Walter White in Better Call Saul, creator Vince Gilligan says that one day it will happen. He won't say when, but it definitely won't happen in Season 2. While talking to the NY Daily News, Gilligan said:
“It would be great to see Walter White on Better Caul Saul. It would be a shame if the show had its run — hopefully a very long run — and he never appeared."
He wouldn't say when the character would show up, he just says, “I have to be coy," and continues:
“All of the wonderful characters who may eventually appear on Better Call Saul will appear when it is most organic and fitting to the storytelling of Better Caul Saul and also when we can work out scheduling issues with actors. I would love to see that personally.”
Saul Goodman and Walter White didn't meet until the second season of Breaking Bad, so it will be interesting to see how they incorporate the character into the spinoff series, which takes place several years before the events in Breaking Bad.
Not only do they want Cranston to come back as Walter White, but they would also like to have him come on to direct, and he has apparently agreed to do that. Gilligan continues:
“We are greedy because we would love to see Bryan direct an episode aside from acting in it at some point."
I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of Better Call Saul, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Season 2. It really would be great to see White show up at some point.
