Viola Davis Will Reprise Her Role as Amanda Waller in James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD
It looks like another character from the first Suicide Squad movie will be returning to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. According to The Wrap, Viola Davis will return to the role of Amanda Waller.
Waller is “a former congressional aide and government agent who is often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former super villains working in return for amnesty.”
Davis will join Idris Elba as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. Davis was great in the role of Waller in the first film, so it’s good that they are brining her back for the role.
While we don’t have any confirmed story details, it is rumored that the current draft of the script could “follow the team on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. This seems like a fitting type of story for the ‘Suicide Squad’ that will keep the stakes lower compared to the first film.”
It’ll be really interesting to see what exactly Gunn has got planned for this movie. What do you all think about Davis coming back to reprise her role?
The Suicide Squad release date is currently set for Aug. 6, 2021.
