Warner Bros. and DC to Develop Film Adaptation of the Comic Book HOURMAN
Warner Bros. and DC are teaming with Chernin Entertainment to make a film adaptation of the comic Hourman. The adaptation is being penned by writing duo Gavin James and Neil Widener, and it will mark the first DC title for Chernin.
Originally created by Ken Fitch and Bernard Baily in 1940 and originally appearing in the Stargirl comics, the hero had three different incarnations, with the first one featuring chemist Rex Tyler the first time we meet the character. Tyler would create a new synthesis, “Miraclo,” which grants him super-strength and endurance, but only for one hour. Rex’s son Rick Tyler would later become the hero, ultimately becoming the most popular Hourman as the years went on.
DC has been wanting to develop a project around Hourman for the last decade, and came close with the idea of a CW series in 2013, but it didn’t pan out. The character was featured in Legends of Tomorrow where Tyler served as the leader of the group, but this film will give him a bigger spotlight.
Are you familiar with Hourman? Are you looking forward to this movie?
