Warner Bros. is Reportedly Looking To Focus on a New SUPERMAN Movie Instead of SUPERGIRL
After Justice League was released and bombed with audiences, Warner Bros. shifted gears in how they were going to move forward with their DC movies. They were initially planning a Man of Steel sequel, but that ended up being dropped in favor of a Supergirl movie.
Oren Uziel was hired to write the Supergirl script. He previously worked on films such as Mortal Kombat, 22 Jump Street, The Cloverfield Paradox, and Sonic The Hedgehog movie.
Well, according to a new report from Heroic Hollywood, The executives at WB and DC have changed their minds. The studio has reportedly put the development of the Supergirl film on hold, and they are now jumping back to focus on Superman. The report indicates that it doesn't make sense to follow up Superman's appearance in Justice League with a Supergirl movie.
There’s no word on if Henry Cavill will be back to reprise his role, but if they are planning to continue the story of Superman after the events of Justice League with a Man of Steel sequel, it would have to be Cavill. Cavill has previously said that he open to returning to the role. We just don’t really know what the studio is thinking at this point. Cavill talked about where he’d like to see in a Man of Steel sequel saying:
"Where we left off with Man of Steel, in particular, was the guy who had found his place, or was trying to find his place but had sort of found it by the end, that had committed something which he would consider a most horrific sin by killing the last member of his species. That is a place where I would like to travel from with the character. Him exploring the positivity of who he is. Not necessarily the chocolate box version, but the leaning into that. That character who becomes an icon of hope and enjoying that experience rather than necessarily being made uncomfortable by it."
That’s the Superman movie that I want to see! While none of this has been confirmed, but it has come from a reliable source that has had lots of DC movie scoops in the past.
