Warner Bros. Offered James Gunn The Chance To Direct a SUPERMAN Movie

Not long after James Gunn found himself no longer directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Warner Bros. snatched him up to write and direct The Suicide Squad.

Well, before he decided to take on The Suicide Squad, apparently Gunn was offered the opportunity to direct a few other DC projects, including a Superman film! THR reports:

When Warners was courting Gunn, the studio gave him his pick of properties, including Superman. Though Gunn never got far enough along to seriously consider tackling a Superman movie, the filmmaker did take a shine to the Man of Steel's superpowered dog Krypto during his comics research — which makes sense for a man who turned a talking raccoon into one of Marvel's most popular big screen characters.

So, even though he’s not directing a Superman movie, there could be a chance for Gunn to direct a Krypto movie at some point! That would be pretty damn funny.

There is a Super Pets movie being developed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine right now, so Krypto could be a spinoff film of that.

Would you have liked to see Gunn direct a Superman film? Do you want to see him direct a Krypto movie?
