Warner Bros. Reportedly Doesn't Think That a Standalone Superman Movie Would Be Successful Right Now
DC movie fans were extremely excited to learn that Henry Cavill would be returning to the role of Superman in the DCEU! But, while fans have been hoping for a Man of Steel sequel or another standalone Superman film, the studio has no plans for that right now.
Instead, it’s been reported that Cavill’s Superman will make a cameo appearance in an upcoming DC movie and that he might be utilized the same way that Nick Fury is utilized in the MCU. This hasn’t been confirmed, but we do know that there is no new solo film being planned right now.
So, why aren’t we getting that solo film? According to Heroic Hollywood, the studio believes that "A stand-alone Superman movie would not be successful at this time. Perhaps once there's more momentum after playing a supporting role in some successful DC films, there would be more of a chance for a stand-alone film."
That’s just about the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard, but it’s not hard to believe that Warner Bros. would think that. The world needs a Superman movie more than ever right now! The world needs that symbol of hope and courage! He stands for freedom, and life itself. He represents the idea that people are inherently good, and someday, that goodness will save us.
That’s the kind of hero that we need right now! I don’t get WB’s thinking. If they are going to get Cavill back in the role, why in the hell wouldn’t they make another Superman movie with him!? That just seems like a complete waste.
