Warner Bros. Sets a Release Date For The DC Film BIRDS OF PREY
Warner Bros. has a released date set for their upcoming DC film Birds of Prey. It will be released in theaters on February 7th, 2020.
The film is being directed by Cathy Yan and Margot Robbie is reprising her role as Harley Quinn. There are also several actresses in the mix to join Robbie in the film and fill the role of Huntress, Black Canary, Renee Montoya, and Batgirl. Some of those actresses include Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Cloverfield Paradox), and Justina Machado (Six Feet Under).
The movie is also being developed by writer Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) and it's being developed as an R-rated film that Robbie previously described as a "girl gang film". She explained;
"I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it."
This is also the rumored plot synopsis that found its way online:
After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord."
Warner Bros. seems excited about this movie and so far I’ve liked what I’ve heard. We still don’t really know what to expect from the film, but as a fan of these characters, I’m hoping for the best.
