Warner Bros. Teams Up With HAZBIN HOTEL Creator Vivienne Medrano for Original Animated Musical PREHISTORIA, Reveals First Look

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has announced an new project, and it comes from one of the most recognizable voices in modern indie animation. Vivienne Medrano, the creator of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, is officially making the jump to feature films with an original animated musical titled Prehistoria.

The project was unveiled during Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, where the studio also shared the first image from the film.

While details remain under wraps, the artwork offers a glimpse into the movie’s imaginative world, featuring a dinosaur-like character wearing a witch’s hat and carrying a broom while surrounded by eerie green flames.

For fans of Medrano’s work, Prehistoria represents something completely new. Unlike Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, the film is not connected to the Hellaverse and will introduce an entirely original setting and story crafted specifically for the big screen.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is planning a theatrical release for the animated musical, with Medrano set to direct the feature herself. That makes Prehistoria a major milestone in her career as she expands beyond the online animation space that helped launch her into the spotlight.

Medrano built a passionate fanbase through her independently produced animated projects, with Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss generating hundreds of millions of views online before growing into larger productions and reaching wider audiences.

Speaking about the opportunity to bring Prehistoria to life with Warner Bros., Medrano shared: “Since I began my animation journey, my biggest dream was to be part of a feature film.

“Now to be creating an original story that I have been holding for years with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, a studio whose characters and stories have been a huge part of my life, is truly a dream come true.”

It’s always cool to see creators who built their careers outside the traditional studio system get the opportunity to tell bigger stories on a larger stage. Medrano has already proven she can create memorable worlds and attract devoted audiences, and now she’ll have the resources of a major animation studio behind her first feature film.

At the moment, Warner Bros. hasn’t revealed any story details, casting announcements, or a release date. But with the project now officially out in the open and the first piece of artwork released, Prehistoria is already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing animated films currently in development.

As more information emerges about the film’s story, characters, and musical elements, fans will no doubt be eager to see what kind of prehistoric fantasy adventure Medrano has been creating.
