Warner Bros. has won the bidding war on the action flick Stay Frosty from director Sam Hargrave (Extraction). Idris Elba (The Losers, Luther) is set to star, and Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will produce with Elba and Hargrave.

The film, which is described as a John Wick meets Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, has the following synopsis: “After miraculously surviving a bullet to the head, a man has to figure out who wants him dead and why. He needs to stop the assassin while still making it back home in time to spend Christmas with his son.”

This will be one of the first follow-ups to Hargrave’s breakout direction in Extraction. The director started as an actor and stuntman, and ended up becoming Chris Evans’ stunt double in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and fight and stunt coordinator in Captain America: Civil War. He added second unit directing to that workload in Avengers: Infinity War. So the guy really knows how to make an awesome action-packed movie.

I’m a huge fan of Elba, and I think this movie was a smart pick for Warner Bros., who is reportedly paying $1 million for the rights.
