Watch a 1985 Rough Cut of Michael Jackson's Disney Sci-Fi Film CAPTAIN EO

I'll admit, I miss going to Disneyland and watching Captain EO. Every time I went to Disneyland when I was growing up I couldn't miss that amazing sci-fi 3-D experience! Yeah, you can now watch it on the internet, but it doesn't have the same effect as watching it in that theater at Disneyland.

If you're a fan of Captain EO, I've got something here you've gotta see! A rough cut of the Francis Ford Coppola-directed George Lucas-produced film has surfaced online. It's a very early version of the film that features some rough animation in place of the special effects, unfinished audio, and it even ends with some footage from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which was animated by a division of George Lucas’s computer graphics company that would later become Pixar.

If you want a little more Captain EO goodness, I also included an episode of the web series Defunctland that is filled with some great fun facts and info on the development of this classic, which at the time was said to be the most expensive movie ever produced if you measure by the minute.

This is an early "rough cut" of Captain EO before things like the 3D effects or music were finished. There's no sound until about 30 seconds in, they just hadn't put in any music or sound effects yet.
