Watch Cars Become Artists in New Gameplay Video for NEED FOR SPEED UNBOUND
A very brief gameplay video for Need for Speed Unbound was recently dropped by EA and Criterion Games. Players get a brief look at how graffiti will be brought to life as they drive around Lakeshore. Something that makes me happy is that the team did share that the effects can be turned off or even never put on if you don’t want them showing up. I’m not opposed to having them, although I can see it being a thing that I eventually want to turn off.
Talking about the art style, Darren White of Criterion Games said:
We wanted to deliver an art style that matters for gameplay, one that clearly celebrates player actions, enhances the player experience, and rewards them along the way. We wanted to take players to that next level in Need for Speed Unbound with our driving VFX, which we call ‘Tags.’
Need for Speed Unbound’s realistic-looking world and cars really help ground the visuals. Taking inspiration from street art and other media, we creatively subvert the characters and visual effects, turning them into expressionistic illustrations of ‘you’ and ‘your actions.’ It’s literally ‘graffiti-coming-to-life.’
You can play NFS Unbound starting December 2 and paint the town with your car. The game will be available to play on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S (affiliate link) in 4K at 60 FPS. Pre-orders are live now from your favorite retailers including GameStop (affiliate link).
