Watch Classic Movie THE KARATE KID Through the 1983 Rehearsal Movie

The Karate Kid was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. It's one of those classic films from the '80s that I still enjoy watching. For those of you who are also fans, now you can practically watch the whole film in a way you've never seen it before! You can watch it through the 1983 rehearsal movie that director John G. Avildsen posted online.

The whole movie was basically shot on a VHS camcorder as a proof-of-concept film to show how the story would play out. There are 13 ten-minute video segments that even include some deleted scenes and feature some the cast and crew members standing in for other characters that would later be replaced for the final film.

This was incredibly fun to watch and both amusing and interesting to see. Fan of the original film are going to enjoy this.

HERE ARE THE FIRST TEN MINUTES OF THE KARATE KID 1983 REHEARSAL MOVIE. THAT'S JIMMY CRABE OUR CAMERMAN BEING KNOCKED DOWN WHEN RALPH DOES A KARATE KICK TO THE DOOR OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX AT THE BEGINNING OF OUR STORY.

THIS PART STARTS WITH A SCENE THAT WAS CUT BEFORE PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY, A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE VALUE OF SHOOTING REHEARSALS.

IN PART 10 THERE ARE A COUPLE OF MORE SCENES THAT WEREN'T SHOT.

A FEW MORE SCENES THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT, PLUS PAT JOHNSON, OUR PEERLESS KARATE COACH AND REFEREE , HELPING OUT BY PLAYING A BADDY AND AD LIBBING BADLY. NOT REALLY, BUT I COULDN'T RESIST.

THE TOURNAMENT BEGINS !

OUR LITTLE MOVIE COMES TO THE END. ROBERT KAMEN, THE MOVIE'S ILLUSTRIOUS AUTHOR AND INSPIRATION FOR MR MIYAGI, APPEARS IN A CAMEO AS KRESSE. HE WOULD HAVE PLAYED THE PART, BUT WAS UNAVAILABLE. PAT JOHNSON'S COMMANDING PRESENCE AS THE REFEREE GAVE GREAT CREDENCE TO THE KARATE SEQUENCES.
