Daisy Ridley came out of nowhere to completely dominate Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and she delivered a superstar performance with an insane amount of pressure on her shoulders. She was my favorite of the new characters by far, and she blew audiences away with her physicality, indomitable spirit, and ability to genuinely emote and make us feel for the character of Rey.
But we obviously aren't the only ones she impressed. She first caught the eye of the film's casting directors and then she impressed writer/director J.J. Abrams in a big way with her audition, in which he asked her to read the scene where Kylo Ren tries to read her mind with The Force. BuzzFeed has a small section of the video, which you can see here.
If you dug that, check out this quick snippet of John Boyega's audition as Finn. Both of these clips will be available as part of the bonus features of the film's home video release. Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits Digital HD on April 1st and Blu-ray/DVD on April 5th.
