Watch: Henry Cavill Rocks Superman Shirt But Isn't Recognized in Times Square

You might think that if people saw one of the stars of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on the sidewalk in one of the world's biggest cities, people would go nuts trying to get a selfie or an autograph with that star. With as addicted as our culture is to celebrity gossip and the borderline-unhealthy way many people worship actors, it's not an unreasonable assumption to make. But as this new video from Henry Cavill's Instagram reveals, that's not what happened when the actor wandered through New York City's Times Square yesterday.

EW points us to this clip below, which features Cavill donning a Superman shirt, surrounded by billboards and massive advertisements of himself promoting Batman v Superman, and not being noticed by a single person.

The obvious must be pointed out here: this is a heavily-edited piece of video, so it's possible that Cavill was actually recognized but he just left those parts out in order to make his joke about the glasses being a good enough disguise. (Besides, it'd be weird for a celebrity to post a video of themselves being hounded by fans.) But even if it did go down this way, it's not too surprising. Cavill certainly isn't a household name, and Times Square is the most touristy section of New York City — who knows how many of the people walking around that area at that time would have even recognized Tom Cruise or Will Smith standing on the street?

With so much riding on this movie, you have to think that WB would have much rather seen Cavill being swamped by fans instead of completely ignored here.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters next Friday, March 25th.

Dear Doubter, The glasses are good enough. Regards, Superman #WhoWillWin #Superman
