Watch Peter Jackson's Music Video and Short Doc About the Making of "The Last Beatles Song" NOW AND THEN
We have a special treat for you today, with the music video for the recently released song, “Now and Then,” a song previously written by The Beatles that had never been released. I got to hear the song on the radio the other day, but it was much cooler to watch the video and hear their voices together as the song was being made. For John Lennon’s vocals, they were isolated from a home demo he recorded 45 years ago in 1978. At the time, the recording quality was poor, but the machine-separating technology of Peter Jackson’s Weta innovated for Get Back made it possible for this track to be captured.
George Harrison recorded his guitar for the song in 1995, Ringo and Paul recently got back in the studio to record their own parts and create some new harmonies, a new string section was laid down, and magic was made.
You can enjoy the music video for the song below, which integrates the studio sessions which were used to create the song, as well as old footage of the band when they were all together. You can also check out the short documentary film that takes you through the whole process of bringing this song to the fans. Enjoy!
