Watch Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Gwyneth Paltrow Surprise Young Cancer Patient
Ryan Wilcox is a hardcore fan of Marvel and The Avengers, but life hasn't been easy for him. When he was only three years old, Ryan was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and after years of going through chemotherapy and radiation therapy, the tumor was gone by age seven. But even though the tumor is gone, the treatments he underwent caused a rare side effect. At eighteen, the teenager is now battling a blood disorder called secondary Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
Ryan resides in San Diego, and his high school classmates assembled to spread the word that Ryan wanted to meet some of the actors from Marvel's cinematic universe, especially Chris Evans because he's a hardcore Captain America fan. Evans actually sent a special video message to Ryan earlier this month. I bet he's pissed that Marvel decided to turn him into a villainous Hydra agent.
Well, Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts in the MCU, heard about all of this, and she organized a surprise meet-up for him with co-stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. A few days ago, they came by Ryan's home and spent a little over an hour with him and his family. While there, they posed for photos, handed out gifts, autographed his bedroom wall, and gave him the priceless gift of sheer joy and happiness.
You can see video footage of the trio of actors surprising Ryan below as they show up at his front door and hang out with him. Ryan told FOX 35:
"I know I'll never forget; it was too good of a day. They're all so great. I would like to say thank you for taking the time out to come see me and that was a highlight."
This is just another encouraging story of people doing good in the world. These people happen to be extremely famous and the fact that they took time out of their busy lives to do something like this is inspiring. Paltrow, Evans, and Downey Jr. have all proven to be stand-up individuals to help bring happiness into peoples lives when they can.
