Watch: Seeing MAD MAX: FURY ROAD With No Special Effects is a Jaw-Dropping Tribute To George Miller's Brilliant Insanity

I didn't love Mad Max: Fury Road nearly as much as my colleagues when it came out last year, but that was largely because I didn't like the way the story folded back on itself and essentially involved characters driving somewhere, only to turn around and drive right back to where they came from. To me, it felt almost like it was just an excuse to get as many crazy car stunts in a run time as possible, and while I love and appreciate all of that craziness, I just wish the story had been a little better.

But generally speaking, people don't go to Mad Max movies for the story. They go to see some balls-to-the-wall action insanity, and that's exactly what director George Miller delivered. This completely CGI-free video, which compiles selections from B-roll, pre-production tests, and behind-the-scenes clips shot during the making of the movie, is a celebration of Miller's unbelievable vision and a tribute to the badass crew members who made it happen. Even if you hated the movie, you've gotta admire the balls of how this film was made:
