Watch: The Evolution of CG Faces in Recent Movie History

Last year, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story became the latest film to kick up the old "have we finally climbed out of the uncanny valley?" argument thanks to its digital depiction of Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin character. (For the record, I don't think we're quite there yet — that face distracted me every moment he was on screen, and the capper of a young CGI Leia was the worst use of CG in the whole movie.)

In any case, the conversation about how far we've come technologically is a fun one, and YouTuber zarbot has compiled some cool behind the scenes clips from movies including The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy, and more to illustrate that evolution.

A Brief Compilation of the Use of CGI for Faces in Movies. These Computer Animated faces include CGI Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One, Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator, Paul Walker in the Fast and Furious and Jeff Bridges in Tron.
