Netflix Unleashes the First Trailer and Poster for Their ULTRAMAN Anime Series

Did you remember that there was an Ultraman anime coming to Netflix? I sure didn’t. Then, I saw the trailer and it looked pretty cool. It definitely has that almost weird cross between anime and CG, but that can be used effectively. In the trailer, we see a young man being attacked by what looks like Ultraman, but then the man’s father arrives and explains that he is actually Ultraman.

The series is an adaptation of the manga by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shiguchi, which serves as a sequel to the original 1966 Ultraman series, and I love that about this! It’s a continuation of the original story. Here’s the synopsis:

Several years have passed since the events of Ultraman, with the legendary “Giant of Light” now a memory, as it is believed he returned home after fighting the many giant aliens that invaded the Earth. Shin Hayata’s son Shinjiro seems to possess a strange ability, and it is this ability, along with his father’s revelation that he was Ultraman, that leads Shinjiro to battle the new aliens invading the Earth as the new Ultraman.

In addition to the cool trailer, fans were also treated with a poster and a world wide release date of April 1, 2019.

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are directing the series that will feature music from Kazuma Jinnouchi and Nobuko Toda. The voice cast we know of for now is comprised of Takuya Eguchi, Megumi Han, Ryohei Kimura, and Hideyuki Tanaka. Are you excited for Ultraman to be released?

The larger than life legend who defined a generation, now returns to usher in a new one. All new Ultraman, streaming only on Netflix, starting April 1st, 2019!
