Watch the First Five Thrilling Minutes of George R.R. Martin's New Sci-Fi Series NIGHTFLYERS
The Syfy Channel has shared the first five minutes of George R.R. Martin’s upcoming sci-fi series Nightflyers. It’s actually a pretty solid and intense opening scene that upped my excitement about seeing the series.
The clip begins with a spaceship floating through space with all kinds of debris. Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) is in the ship and in a panic as she reactivates the gravitational pull. As she starts to transmit a message that the Nightflyer ship has sustained serious damage, and the crew has suffered multiple fatalities, a crazed-looking crew member walks in whistling with a axe. Things then take a twisted and unexpected turn.
Nightflyers is based on the novella, written by Martin, that tells the story of "eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system in the hopes of contacting alien life. They travel aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tight knit crew and a reclusive captain. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other, and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought."
The series also stars Eoin Macken as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala as Roy Eris, Sam Strike as Thale, Maya Eshet as Lommie, Angus Sampson as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith as Melantha Jhirl, and Brían F. O’Byrne as Auggie.
Nightflyers will premiere on Sunday, December 2, and it will be followed by a new episode every night through Thursday, December 6. The remaining episodes will then air Sunday, December 9 through Thursday, December 13.
