Watch The Gruesome and Painful Opening Scene From SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW
Lionsgate has shared the opening scene of the upcoming film Spiral: From The Book of Saw and it’s a gruesome stomach-turning moment highlighting one of the film’s many jacked-up traps that the killer uses to murder people. It’s a rough watch, and not for the faint of heart.
When I see a scene like this, it tells me that this new Saw movie, which came from the mind of Chris Rock, is just going to be more of the same. I was hoping to see Rock do something different and unique. Maybe that will come with the story, but the original and tired concept is still in place, where people who have wronged others are forced to painfully sacrifice something of themselves or pay the consequences of dying.
Rock stars in the film alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella, who play detectives investigating a string of grisly murders by a killer who is targeting cops. These detectives find themselves in “the center of the killer's morbid game.”
Darren Bousman (Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera) directed the movie. While I’ve been done with the Saw franchise for a long time, I’m actually excited about this one. Mostly because I want to see what kind of story that Rock wanted to tell with it.
A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw hits theaters May 14, 2021.
