Watch the Pilot Animatic for the Canceled KINGDOM HEARTS Animated Series

Way back in 2003, there was an animated series in the works for Kingdom Hearts. It ended up being canned, but it turns out that there was an animatic produced for it. Seth Kearsley worked on the project as an executive producer and has held onto this animatic for almost twenty years.

Recently, he released the animatic online for everyone to enjoy. I actually quite dig the ideas behind what we see. I really appreciate that it’s not just copying what we see in the games but rather building upon it. Also, the fight music is my jam!

You can watch the roughly 11-minute animatic below. It features Bobby Edner as Sora since Haley Joel Osment had a scheduling conflict, but Hayden Panitterie and David Gallagher were going to reprise their roles as Kairi and Riku. What do you think of what we’ve seen? Should Disney have continued it?
