Watch the Trailer for YU-GI-OH! SEVENS Now
At Jump Festa ‘20 this last weekend, a trailer was shown for the next Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. The new show will follow Yuga Odo (voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi) with his trusty Seventh-Load Magician and will be called Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens. It also looks like instead of featuring a new kind of card (like XYZ, Synchro, Link, etc.), the focus will be on the latest craze that’s taken fans by storm: Speed Duels. According to the trailer, it looks like the show will be calling them Rush Duels, but you can see on the duel disk that there are only three monster card zones which matches the format of Speed Duels first introduced in the mobile game Duel Links before being brought to the physical game.
Other characters for the series include Tatsuhisa Kamijo (voiced by Taku Yashiro), aka Luke, whose signature card will be Rengekiryū Dragias; Gakuto Sōgetsu (voiced by Natsuki Hanae); and Romin Kirishima (voiced by Tomori Kusunoki). Here’s a description of the series via ANN:
“The anime will feature a protagonist in elementary school for the first time in the franchise. The anime will have a new ‘Rush Duel’ rule. The anime takes place in the future in the town of Gōha. Yūga Ōdō, a fifth-grade student, loves both inventions and dueling. His classmate Luke is a self-styled ‘number one duelist at Gōha 7 Elementary School.’ Gakuto is the school’s student council president, and Romin is Yūga’s classmate.”
I’m interested to see where this new series goes. I just hope it’s not signaling the end of the non-Speed version of the card game.
