The Twilight Zone is one of my favorite TV series of all time. Rod Serling changed the face of storytelling with that series, and he inspired so much of what we see today in TV and movies. The guy was a genius when it came to writing and crafting stories. He had a solid understanding of how all that worked, and we have a series of old interviews with Serling in which he discusses these things. If you are an aspiring filmmaker or writer, this is required viewing material. There is a lot of stuff you can learn from Serling.
